Also includes: letter from Roosevelt to Lindley Miller Garrison; letter from Thayer to Roosevelt; notes by Thayer; and a typescript carbon list of contents, marked "For Houghton", and signed by N. E. Garrison, a lawyer, was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. He became U.S. secretary of war in 1913.
